Rates, Terms & Important Information

When you confirm your booking with us, you confirm that:
- you understand our rates and how we charge; and
- you agree to these terms for the work we carry out.
Our Rates
All prices include GST and apply to work carried out by Jim’s Electrical Port Adelaide.
Rates are for one electrician.
Time after the first 30 minutes is billed in 15-minute increments.

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
.After Hours.
Weekday evenings & Saturdays

How we charge for time & materials
- The minimum charge is the first 30 minutes on site, which includes standard travel/call-out within 30km of Port Adelaide. Longer distances may be quoted separately.
- After the first 30 minutes, time is billed in 15-minute increments at the rates above.
- We charge only for the actual time spent on your job, including any fault-finding, testing, safety checks, and preparation of compliance certificates (CoC) where required.
- Materials are charged from our current catalogue and aligned with NECA (National Electrical and Communications Association) recommended practice.
- We only use compliant, good-quality products from reputable suppliers.
- If non-standard materials must be collected from a wholesaler during your job, reasonable travel and collection time may be charged at the normal labour rate.
Your Booking & Cancellation Policy
- When you confirm your appointment time, that time is reserved specifically for you.
- If you need to change or cancel your booking, please tell us as early as possible.
- ⚠️Cancellations or reschedules within 24 hours of a confirmed appointment may incur an $80 (ex GST) call-out fee.
- We always act reasonably and take personal circumstances into account before applying any fee.
Payment Terms
- Residential customers: Payment is due on completion of the work (cash, card, or bank transfer).
- Business/commercial customers: 7-day payment terms, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- For quoted jobs, a 10% deposit may be required to secure time and materials.
Overdue accounts
- Interest may be charged on overdue accounts at a rate of 9% per annum.
- We may recover reasonable debt collection and legal costs incurred in recovering overdue amounts.
Quotes, Extras & Variations
- Quotes clearly state what is included.
- Any extra work outside the quoted scope will be discussed and may be charged as a variation.
- If hidden issues are discovered (e.g., unsafe wiring, asbestos, access issues), we will explain your options and any additional costs before proceeding, where practical.
- We will not perform significant additional work without your consent unless necessary to make the installation safe.
Warranties & Customer-Supplied Parts
- We stand behind our work. Any defect in our workmanship will be rectified at no cost if reported within 12 months of completion, provided the installation has not been altered, misused, or damaged.
- Parts and materials we supply are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
- If a part we supplied fails, we will liaise with the manufacturer/supplier and attend site as required under Australian Consumer Law.
- We can install customer-supplied parts if they are safe and compliant.
- If a customer-supplied part is faulty, any return, replacement, or warranty process — including our time to re-attend — is the customer’s responsibility and is charged at normal rates.
If you’re not happy
- If you have any concerns about our work, please call us on (08) 8200 9599 as soon as possible so we can personally make things right for you.
- For non-urgent issues, please notify us within 7 days of completion.
- We will assess the issue, explain our view, and, where appropriate, return to inspect and rectify.
- If we cannot resolve the matter directly, you may contact Jim’s Group or Consumer and Business Services SA.
Financial Hardship
If you’re having trouble paying, please contact us early so we can work out a fair solution.
Where reasonably possible, we may offer:
- a short-term payment plan, or
- a brief extension of time to pay.

These local rates and terms apply to work carried out by Jim’s Electrical Port Adelaide. Where these terms differ from the general Jim’s Electrical Terms & Conditions, these local terms apply to the extent of the inconsistency.
